Publishing, visibility and content ratings
How a scenario goes from private draft to listed in Discover — rating checks, moderator review, publishing changes and disputes.
The three visibility levels#
| Visibility | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Private | Only you. Every new scenario starts here. |
| Unlisted | Anyone with the direct link — share it with friends. Not shown in Discover yet. |
| Published | Listed in Discover for everyone. A moderator lists scenarios here. |
You change visibility on the Details tab of the editor, or from the More menu on your scenario's page (Make unlisted / Make private). In the editor, the choice is saved together with your next change.
Getting your scenario into Discover#
- Add a cover image. (Scenarios get one automatically — see Creating a scenario.)
- Run a content rating check. On the Details tab, press Check Rating.
- Set Visibility to Unlisted.
- Wait for review. Every unlisted scenario goes into the moderators' queue. When a moderator lists it, it becomes Published and you'll get a notification: "Your scenario is now discoverable — a moderator has listed it in Discover."
Your status is shown at the top of the editor: Private, Unlisted — awaiting moderator review to be listed in Discover, or Listed in Discover.
Content ratings#
Every shared scenario carries one of these ratings:
| Rating | Meaning | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Safe (PG) | Suitable for everyone. | Everyone |
| Moderate (PG-13) | Some mature themes. | Everyone |
| Mature (R) | Adult themes. | Players 18 and over |
| Unrated | No rating yet. Can't be shared. | Treated as Mature |
Check Rating uses AI to read your title, opening prompt, Plot Essentials, script and State Card entries, and assigns a rating. Some obviously strong content is always rated at least Mature.
- You get 5 rating checks per day. The editor shows how many you have left.
- Editing your scenario makes the rating out of date — changes to the title, opening prompt, Plot Essentials, script or State Cards mean you'll need to check again before your changes can go live.
- If the check can't decide, the result is Unrated, which blocks sharing — try again later.
Editing a published scenario#
Once your scenario is listed, edits don't go live straight away. The first change creates a private draft; players keep seeing the published version. The editor shows Listed in Discover — unpublished changes.
When you're ready, run Check Rating again and press Publish Changes at the top of the editor. The title needs at least 3 characters and the opening prompt at least 10.
Disagree with a rating?#
On your scenario's page, open More → Dispute rating. Fill in a Subject and Details explaining why the rating is wrong, and press Submit dispute. It's sent to the moderation team as a support ticket, which you can follow under Settings → View my support tickets.
If a moderator takes a scenario down#
A moderator can unpublish a scenario that breaks the rules. It becomes private and its visibility is locked; you'll see Locked by moderators — contact support to appeal in the editor. If you think it was a mistake, contact support (see Getting help).
After publishing#
- Your scenario page shows Plays, likes and bookmarks. As the original author you also see an Analytics card with Plays, Completion rate and Median turns played. Completion rate counts players who finish a quest, so it needs at least one Quest card with objectives.
- Players can leave Comments, and can Tip creator — sending you credits you can spend on RPGCortex. See How credits work.
- Players can copy your scenario with Edit then Play. Their copy is private to them and shows Based on your scenario by you.
