Display and reading settings
Make the story comfortable to read — text size and style, light and dark, styled themes, colorful backgrounds, high contrast and more.
All of these live in an adventure's Settings (the gear icon) under Gameplay → Display.
Text#
- Text size — Normal or Large. Large makes the whole interface about a quarter bigger, not just the story.
- Text style — Print (a book-like serif, the default), Clean (a modern sans-serif) or Hacker (monospace).
Theme#
- Theme — Dark (the default) or Light.
- Styled themes — a full palette swap: background, text, buttons and borders all change together. Choose from:
| Theme | Feel |
|---|---|
| Ironwood | Warm browns with an amber accent |
| Voidglass | Deep indigo with a violet accent |
| Emberfall | Near-black with a fiery red-orange accent |
| Verdant | Dark forest green with a leafy accent |
| Tidewater | Deep navy with a bright blue accent |
To go back to the plain look, choose Dark or Light again.
Other options#
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Colorful | Tints the background using colors from your adventure's cover and generated images. With the Dark theme, it also shows a soft, blurred version of the cover behind the story. | On |
| High contrast | Stronger text and border contrast; works with either theme. | Off |
| Text animation | Streams responses in as they're written, instead of all at once. | On |
| Story markdown | Shows bold and italic formatting in the story. | On |
| Follow latest text | Scrolls automatically to new turns. | On |
| Compact buttons | Smaller buttons for more room on screen. | Off |
| Context warning | Lets you know when older turns are dropped to fit the context budget. See Memory, context and the story summary. | On |
A few more reading tweaks#
Under Gameplay → Models → Prototype there are three small formatting options:
- '>' markers on actions — adds a
>before your Do actions when they're sent to the AI. - Action paragraph spacing and Continue paragraph spacing — adjust how line breaks are handled.
Narration speed and volume are under Gameplay → Narration — see Narration (read aloud).
