Narration (read aloud)
Have your story read aloud with a free device voice or a premium narrator — voice tiers, costs, autoplay and playback controls.
Turning narration on#
- In an adventure, open Settings (the gear icon).
- Go to Gameplay → Narration.
- Tick Narration — "Show narration controls while playing."
A speaker button labeled Narration now appears on the command bar (on phones it's the Narrate button in the row below). Press it to hear the latest passage.
Tick Autoplay as well if you want every new response read out automatically. In multiplayer, autoplay also reads turns taken by other players.
Voice quality#
Choose a tier under Voice quality:

The cost is a flat amount each time a passage is narrated, however long it is. Every play is charged, including replays. If a premium narration fails, your credits are refunded automatically. In multiplayer, whoever presses play pays for their own narration.
Choosing a voice#
- Device tier: pick from Device voice — search by voice or language, or use System default.
- Expressive and Max: pick a Narrator. You can filter by All, Female, Male or Neutral, and search by name, accent or style. The voices are:

You can also set Speed (0.5× to 2×) and Volume, each with a Reset button.
The playback bar#
While narration is playing, a bar shows the voice, its status and the time. Use it to pause, resume or replay, toggle AUTO (autoplay), open narration settings, or close it. On the Expressive and Max tiers you can also drag to seek.
Troubleshooting#
- "This turn is too long to narrate" — premium narration handles passages up to 4,096 characters. Use the Device tier for very long passages.
- "Narration isn't supported in this browser." — your browser doesn't offer built-in speech. Try another browser, or use a premium tier.
- "Insufficient credits" — top up from the Credits page, or switch to the free Device tier.
- "Narration failed — try again" — something went wrong on our side; you haven't been charged.
