Signing in and setting up your account

RPGCortex uses Google sign-in. Here's what happens the first time you sign in, including the one-time birthdate step.

Signing in#

RPGCortex uses Sign in with Google — there's no separate RPGCortex password to create or remember.

  1. Go to rpgcortex.com and choose Sign in with Google.
  2. Pick your Google account and approve the sign-in.
  3. You're taken into the app at play.rpgcortex.com. If you were following a link (for example a friend link or a shared scenario), you land back on that page.

The first time you sign in, your account is created automatically. Your display name starts out as the name on your Google account; you can change it later from your profile (see Account settings and profile).

The birthdate step#

Before you can play for the first time, RPGCortex asks for your birthdate on a screen titled Welcome to RPGCortex. Enter it and press Continue.

Your birthdate is used to decide which content you can see:

  • Mature-rated content unlocks automatically once you're 18. There's no switch to flip — it's based on the birthdate on file.
  • Younger players only see scenarios rated Safe (PG) or Moderate (PG-13).
  • You must be at least 13 to sign up (under-18s need a parent or guardian's permission). Mature-rated content unlocks at 18, based on the birthdate you enter. Our Terms of Service set out who can use RPGCortex.

After this step you'll receive your free starting credits and land on the Play page, ready for your first adventure.

Staying signed in and signing out#

Your session stays active for about a week on each device, after which you'll be asked to sign in again. To sign out yourself:

  • Desktop: click your avatar in the top-right corner and choose Sign out.
  • Any device: open the ☰ menu and choose Sign out at the bottom.

Trouble signing in?#

  • "Too many sign-in attempts — please try again later." Too many new accounts were created from your network recently. Wait a while and try again.
  • "Sign-in failed — please try again." Something went wrong with the Google handshake. Try again, and make sure your browser isn't blocking cookies for rpgcortex.com.
