Scene images

Use the See action to generate a picture of the current scene — what it costs, how styles work and what to do if an image fails.

Generating an image#

  1. Press Your move and choose See.
  2. Describe what you want to look at — "the dragon's hoard", "the stranger's face" — or leave it blank to picture the current scene.
  3. Press Enter.

The narrator writes a short passage as you take a closer look, and an image is generated alongside it. You'll see Generating image… while it's being made, then the picture appears in your story.

What it costs#

Images use credits. The current image model, Arcane Lens, costs 30 credits per image. You're only charged once the image is ready — if it fails or is withheld, you aren't charged.

  • The See turn's text is billed like any other turn (see How credits work).
  • Images in the Tutorial are free.
  • In multiplayer, the credits for a See image are taken from the host's balance.

You can check or change the image model in Settings → Gameplay → Models → Image Model. Default (cheapest available) always picks the lowest-cost option, and each model shows its price in 💎.

Art style#

A scenario's author can pick an Image Style for all its scenes — presets such as Cinematic, Painted Fantasy, Anime, Pixel Art, Comic Book, Watercolor, Cyberpunk or Dark Fantasy, or a custom description. If they didn't, a moody digital-painting style is used.

One at a time#

You can only have one image generating at a time, across all your adventures. If you ask for another too soon, you'll see "An image is already generating — wait for it to finish before requesting another".

When an image can't be made#

If you see Image couldn't be generated for this turn., the image failed or was blocked by our safety checks — and you weren't charged. Try again with a different description.

If you don't have enough credits, you'll see "Insufficient credits for image generation". Top up from the Credits page, or see Plans compared.
